Electrical storm seen from Ambositra / Décharges électriques vu d'Ambositra

This evening we witnessed quite a peculiar event.

We had spent Sabbath with our South African friends. The day had been pleasant, and we had been blessed with sunshine. At around 6pm we decided to go home and as we walked out of the house, our hosts' daughter came running saying there was a scary big cloud with lightning over the hill... A scary cloud ? We straight away thought it probably had an unusual shape of some sort... but we were far from imagining the spectacular sight we were about to see.

Ce soir nous avons assisté à un événement tout à fait particulier.

Nous avions passé le sabbat avec nos amis sud-africains. La journée avait été agréable et ensoleillée. Vers 18 heures, nous avons décidé de rentrer et en sortant de la maison, la fille de nos hôtes accourut dire qu'il y avait un gros nuage effrayant avec de la foudre de l'autre côtés de la colline... Un nuage effrayant? Nous nous sommes tout de suite dit qu'il avait tout simplement quelque forme inhabituelle... mais nous étions loin d'imaginer l'incroyable spectacle que nous allions voir.

In Ambositra there was no rain and no thunder... but the play of light was such that we couldn't stop watching. It felt like November 4th, as if we were watching the fireworks on Guy Fawkes Night!

A Ambositra, il n'y avait ni pluie ni tonnerre... mais le jeu de lumière était tel que nous étions scotchés sur place. On se sentait comme au 14 juillet, à regarder les feux d'Artifice !
