We are taking 2 planes to Madagascar. The first one takes us to Nairobi where we spend a day. We arrive in Kenya at 6:30 am (4:30 UK time).
Pastor Ezra meets us at the airport (Thank you Windsome for arranging this). He takes us around Nairobi.

On a 2 avions a prendre pour arriver a Madagascar. Le premier nous ammene a Nairobi ou on passé la journée. On arrive au Kenya a 6:30 du mat’ (4:30 heure Anglaise).
Le Pasteur Ezra nous attend a l’aéroport (une amie nous a organisé tout ca :-). Il nous fait la visite de Nairobi:

On the way from the airport, something catches our attention. On the acacia trees in town there are big birds nesting, called Marabou stalks. Wow, this is unusual to us… we are no longer in the UK !

Sur la route de l’aéroport, quelque chose attire notre attetion. Sur les acacia au centre ville on voit de grand oiseaux, ce sont des Cigognes Marabou. Wow, c’est pas très commun pour nous… on n’est plus en Angleterre !

First stop, the Adventist East African Union. It’s obviously closed as it’s Sunday, but the Church is open… and it is huge. Among the church members are people highly positioned within the government. This is apparently the only church with 3 pastors. Usually 1 pastor has 10-20 churches/groups. The Adventist church is very well recognised in Kenya. There are churches everywhere.

Premier arret, l’Union Adventiste de l’Afrique de l’Est. Les bureaux sont evidemment fermés le dimanche, mais l’église est ouverte… et elle est énorme. Parmi les membres d’église, on y trouve des gens bien places au sein du gouvernement. Cette église est apparemment la seule qui ait 3 pasteurs. D’habiture 1 pasteur peut avoir 10-20 églises ou groupes. L’église Adventiste est tres bien reconnue au Kenya. Il y a des églises partout.

Next to the Union is an Adventist Guest House. We stop for breakfast… had some Passion fruit juice, Papaya (Mmmm), and Millet porridge (thought it would be good to taste, that’s done, not sure to try again)

A coté de l’Union, on trouve des chambres d’hote. On y fait une halte pour un bon p’tit dej… Au menu du jus frais du Fruit de la passion, des morceaux de papaye (Mmmm), et du porridge de millet (fallait essayer… Ca c’est fait, pas sur de recommencer)

After the Union, the Division… we visit the Adventist Est Central African Division. The compound is Beautiful! It’s a haven! We come across beautiful birds including the Sacred Ibis (considered sacred to the Egyptians whose god, Toth had an Ibis head) The offices and the houses look really nice! We wouldn’t mind living here…

Apres l’Union, la Division… Nous visitons la Division adventiste de l’Afrique Centrale et de l’Est. Le campus est magnifique! C’est un petit coin de paradis! On y croise de beaux oiseaux dont l’Ibis sacré (oiseau sacré selon les egyptien dont le dieu, Toth, avait une tête d’Ibis) Les bureaux et les maisons sont superbes! Ca ne nous dérangerait pas d’y vivre…

And here the moment we were waiting for, the Safari at the Nairobi National Park. We go for a short Safari walk. The big Safari where you drive in would take too long + there is a drought and the animals go far to look for water.

Et voici le moment tant attendu, le Safari au parc national de Nairobi. On décide de faire un petit Safari a pied. Le grand safari ou l’on va en voiture prendrait trop de temps, en plus on est en période de sécheresse et les animaux vont loin pour chercher de l’eau.

We then pop into the Masai Market in the town centre. As soon as we step in, some guys start following us, collecting all the item we look at hoping we will buy them and they will get a commission from the actual seller. Of course we are given tourist prices… but we have a secrert weapon, Phoebe. Pastor Ezra has called his friend to come and negociate for us. Gil buys a piece of Fabric, Ben gets a shirt + we buy a colourful painting.

Ensuite, on fait un saut au marché Masai au centre ville. Des qu’on arrive on se fait poursuivre par des gars qui veulent nous faire acheter des tas de choses a des prix de touristes… mais nous avons une arme secrete, Phoebe. Le pasteur Ezra a fait appel a une amie pour négocier les prix pour nous. Gil s’achete un morceau de tissu, Ben se prend une chemise + on achete un peinture bien colorée.

Et me voila, dans la salle d'attente de Kenya Airways, en attendant le prochain vol. Je profite du Wifi pour mettre a jour le blog :-)
