Birthday Breakfast / P'tit déj d'Anniversaire (05/02/10)

Friday 5th of February, at the early hours of the morning, Sarah, Ben and Gil set off to the Koen's place (our South African friends). It was Elaine's birthday, we had prepared porridge and cake and planned a little breakfast surprise.

Vendredi 5 février, aux petites heures du matin, Sarah, Ben et Gil ont pris la route en direction de la maison de la famille Koen (nos amis sud-africains). C'était l'anniversaire d'Elaine, et nous avions plannifié un p'tit déj surprise avec du porridge et du gâteau.

But first, our basket in hand, we had to ride a pousse-pousse (rickshaw) across town...

Mais d'abord, notre panier à la main, il a fallu traverser la ville en pousse-pousse...

Then we had to walk up a hill for about 10 minutes... the air was fresh, the view was beautiful.

Puis monter la colline allant chez eux pendant 10 minutes... l'air était agréable, la vue était belle.

We arrived at the Koen's house at around 6:30am, got in quietly (Ettienne, the husband, knew we were coming... so the house was open ;-), set up the table, and started singing "Happy Birthday to You" as loud as possible. It took Elaine a few minutes to realise the noise was coming from the house...

Nous sommes arrivés chez les Koen vers 6h30, nous sommes entrés doucement dans la maison (Ettienne, le mari, était au courant de notre surprise... et avait laissé la porte ouverte ;-), nous avons mis la table, et nous avons commencé à chanter "Joyeux Anniversaire" aussi fort que possible. Elaine a pris quelques minutes à réaliser que le bruit venait de la maison...

We made lovely tropical smoothie and enjoyed a delicious birthday breakfast together before going to work.

Nous avons préparé un bon smoothie tropical et nous nous sommes régalés avec un délicieux petit déjeuner d'anniversaire avant d'aller au boulot.
