Le calme après la tempête / The calm after the storm

Le cyclone Hubert a fait beaucoup de dégât sur la côte est de Madagascar. On compte à présent une cinquantaine de morts et plus de 95 000 sans abris. ADRA Madagascar est actuellement sur les lieux pour évaluer les dégâts et préparer l'aide humanitaire.

The cyclone Hubert has done a lot of damage on the East coast of Madagascar. The death toll is currently evaluated at about 50, and more than 95 000 people are without shelter. ADRA Madagascar is currently on the scene to assess damage and prepare humanitarian aid.

A Ambositra, après les grands vents et la pluie non-stop, nous avons retrouvé le soleil. De l'appart', la seule trace visible du passage du cyclone était la barrière du voisin d'en face qui était tombée. Mais dès le lendemain la barrière avait repris sa place.

In Ambositra, after strong winds and the rain that wouldn't stop, we are back to sunshine. From the flat, the only visible proof that a cyclone was here was the neighbor's fence lying on the groung. But the following day it was back up again.

Sur notre précédent message posté sur le blog jeudi dernier, nous disions qu'un cyclone rôdait dans les parages... C'était notre dernier message envoyé avant de perdre notre connexion internet ; notre modem avait rendu l'âme. Après la tempête, nous avions maintenant droit à une semaine de grand calme... Nous étions coupé du reste du monde, espérant que la famille n'était pas trop inquiète.

On our last blog post dated last Thursday, we said that a cyclone was lurking in the area... That was the last message we sent out before our internet connection got cut as our modem breathed its last breath. After the storm, we now had a week of great calm... We were cut off from the rest of the world, hoping our family wasn't getting too worried.

Mais nous revoilà. Internet a été reconnecté ce matin à notre plus grand bonheur :-)

Nous allons bien. Dehors, il fait beau et dans quelques jours nous partons en vacances ! Youpi !

But here we are again. Internet has been reconnected this morning to our greatest delight :-)

We are both fine. Outside it's sunny and in a few days we will be off on holiday! Yippee!
